The Digitex Futures Exchange is the First Bitcoin Perpetual Futures Exchange to incorporate a ladder trading interface onto its platform.
The ladder allows you to place orders immediately with a single click which gives the trader an advantage as they can react to market movements quicker. Orders are placed by a single left click on the order book at the price level that you would like to place your order at.
The order book is split into sections: buy and sell. These are the two columns of numbers to the left and right of the Bitcoin price increments and are seen outlined in the red boxes. It is in this area that you click to place an order.
The Spot price is the current trading price of the asset and as such it always sits between the buy orders and sell orders. The book is split above and below the spot price as traders try to sell higher and buy lower than current market prices.
The numbers on the left (green) and right (red) of each price increment are orders that are currently placed on the book. Each increment is known as a ‘tick’. The Digitex Futures Exchange splits Bitcoin ticks in $5 increments.
The number of contracts you place on the ladder with each click is determined by which contract setting you have selected in the Quick Select Contracts tab (see Quick Select Contracts and Contract Settings). Primarily, orders are placed on the ladder with a single left click, the amount of orders placed with each left click is decided by the number of contracts selected in the Quick Select Tab.
The figure to the top shows the ladder interface with 15 contracts selected in the Quick Select Tab. It also shows an open position of +15 contracts. Once you have open contracts, a secondary method of placing orders is unlocked — The right click.
When you have open orders, if you right click to place an order on the ladder, it will place the same number of contracts that you have currently open. This feature is especially useful for occasions where you have partial or multiple fills and need to exit your position quickly without editing your number of contracts in the settings menu.
